Quote: Okay, here's the deal. EVE is overflowing with non-sentient dip****s. This is pretty normal. They also hide behind the same slobbering ****** excuses, which they don't even understand well enough to realize are complete nonsense. We all know these soundbites:
"l2p" (Translation: "I do not comprehend basic game mechanics enough to realize your skill as a player has little bearing on the fact that my gate-camping battleship blob just blew up your cruiser.") "Sorry, you were in lowsec" (Translation: "I didn't kill you, society did.") "Cry more, n00b" (Translation: "I need this. My stepfather ****s me.") "Go play on a PvE server." (Translation: ...I don't even know where to start.)
And, of course, there is the sacred mantra of the greatest of *******s, the one parroted mindlessly over and over any time anyone says anything about the fact that they're ****ing people off for it's own sake:
"If you don't like it, play something else."
To those people, I say this: pull your head out of your ass, you God damn hypocrite. You're perfectly willing to discount the way other people want to play, but you scream your balls out if anyone suggests ganking be curbed. Hey, I've got an idea: how about we remove PvP completely and YOU go play something else? Oh wait, you don't like that? Then shut the **** up.
To CCP, I give the following warning: these ****s are defining the play experience your game offers. This "**** you, go play something else" atmosphere is what defines your game, whether you intended that or not. And when there is so much hostility, so much antagonism, and so much intolerance, that gives a lot of oomph to that suggestion. If a new player gets killed for absolutely no reason, posts or EVEmails about it, and is subsequently ridiculed and told to quit the game, is it that unreasonable to think they might do just that? Being ganked isn't fun, being ridiculed isn't fun, and being told you're not welcome isn't fun. Being reassured that it's just part of the game really just tells them "sorry, this game isn't meant to be fun."
I partly agree this part, the rest is just a rant about risk vs. reward. Most of the response on your thread proves your first point, it shows what the EVE community has become. It is the new MEME or something to say those lines and everybody wants to be a part of it. Want to know more? |
